Figure Nonsense Review: Good Smile Company's 1/7 Saber -Triumphant Excalibur-

Hey everyone! I am finally getting around to posting up a review on a figure, however, I may still be too lazy to actually write anything worth reading! So we will see how that goes! XD

So for the first review we are going to take a look at Good Smile Company's highly anticipated 1/7 scale Saber -Triumphant Excalibur-. First let's take a look at the box it comes in itself! The box is pretty amazing on its own, it has a large clear display window in the front and on top, with small ones on the sides, so that you can see the figure while it is still kept in storage. The box is very intricately decorated with lots of metallic blue, silver, and gold foiling (ooo shiny!) to match the overall look of Saber. It really reminds me of Christmas wrapping paper, but 100x cooler.

So shiny! Do want.

Even at first glance, you will know that this figure is easily one of the best figures of Saber to ever be produced and possibly one of the best figures overall. Again, the figure is 1/7 scale making it quite a large figure and stands at about 250mm tall. The attention to detail in the folds of cloth and her armor is astounding. The pose itself, the facial expression, hair, the way her dress flows, all go together nicely and would make it a great center piece in any display. The figure also accurately portrays Saber as she is seen in the anime, which is great, because if there is one thing I can't stand, is when a figure doesn't have the correct proportions or if the face is butt ass ugly. Putting her together is easy enough, a pole slides into her foot and base with ease, and the swords are placed in her hand by removing a piece of the hilt, sliding the sword in and then putting the piece back on. If you are still confused about how to put her together, she comes with a handy sheet of instructions.

Great action pose is great.

Saber comes with two separate swords: the standard Excalibur, as well as 'Invisible Air', which makes use of clear plastic to truly make it seem more like an invisible sword. The swooshing air lines have a nice hint of aqua blue to it, giving off a really nice effect. The swords can be interchanged so that you can display her in the way that you want! Putting the swords in her hands is actually quite easy, but may need some adjusting to get it lined up in her hands correctly.

Here is a more close up picture of Saber posed wielding "Invisible Air"

A close up shot of Saber's face and her posed with the standard Excalibur.
Take note of the detail of the plates of her armor.

One of the great things about this figure is the base that it comes with. It is quite detailed and a really great change of pace from the standard bases that most figures come with. You can see that a lot of effort went into sculpting each individual brick and the attention that went into the little intricacies, specifically in the broken up part of it.

Noice!

All in all, Good Smile Company's 1/7 Saber -Triumphant Excalibur- is a truly impressive figure and raises the bar of quality in Saber figures. The paint on the dress and armor is excellent as the shading is different based on the shape of the part it follows. All of the little parts, such as the gold adornments on the white part of her dress are paid special attention to as well. However, there is apparently one common complaint about the figure. There have been murmurs about a strange pattern or film/residue on the front cloth of her dress that can be rubbed off. After checking with several different figures, they all have it, but apparently Good Smile Company says that it is normal. I honestly don't know what to say about that, but I am skeptical, because it ends up making her look like she has stains on her dress. Anyway, if you are a fan of the Fate/Stay Night series this figure is a definite must buy, and if you aren't a fan, it is still a must buy! That is how great it is.

If you are interested in picking this figure up, we actually still have a few available in our webstore at this time, so don't miss out on it!
